In animal cell cytokinesis occurs by cell furrow or groove formation in which a furrow develops in membrane which gradually grows towards the center thus shows centripetal growth. In plant cell cytokinesis occurs by cell plate which gradually grows from center to periphery thus shows centrifugal growth.
