In Drosophila melanogaster, the genes for eye colour as well as body colour is located on X chromosomes. Red eye colour is dominant, whereas white eye colour is recessive. Brown body colour is dominant, whereas yellow body colour is recessive. These two genes were used by Morgan to study linkage.
