The correct answer is: spore mother cells
Funaria belongs to Mosses under the division Bryophyta (amphibians of the plant kingdom). Funaria shows a sexual and asexual reproductive mode in their life-cycle. The haploid gametophyte alternates with the diploid saprophyte in the sexual lifecycle which is halodiplontic. The spore develops into mature gametophyte bearing archegonia and antheridia. Antheridia bears male gametes that swim to the female egg and fuse to form sporophyte. Foot, setae, and capsule form parts of the sporophyte. Haploid spores are formed in the capsule by the meiosis division process.
