Mitochondria are power house of the cell. It consists of two membranes. Outer and inner. Outer membrane is smooth but inner membrane shows presence of many infoldings known as cristae. These increase the surface area of the membrane. These act as site for oxidation reduction reaction. Chemiosmosis and Electron transport chain takes place on the inner membrane.
