Let us consider the diagram of problem 5 , there is a line shown in the figure drawn along the diagonal. First, centre of mass of the system was on the dotted line and was shifted towards $Q$ from the centre (1st quadrant).
When the mass $Q$ is decrease, it will be on the same line but shifted towards other side of $Q$ on the line joining $Q P$ or away from the centre so, new $C M$ will lies in IIIrd quadrant in $x-y$ plane.
