The environmental and physiological factors influence the cambium activity, due to which the climatic conditions in the temperate regions which are not uniform results in the cambium changes. In the spring season, the cambium activity increases to a great extent and a large number of xylary elements are produced, having vessels with wider cavities and the name given to this wood is the springwood or earlywood. During winters, the cambium becomes less active and the xylem vessels formed have a narrow cavity known as the autumn wood or the latewood.
