Sex determination in humans, honey bee, Drosophila, and fowl is dependent on the genetic combination. For the first three, the male is heterogametic producing two types of gametes, and female is homogametic producing only one type of gamete. In fowl, that is a bird, the male is homogametic, and the female is heterogametic. Thus, the female is responsible for sex determination.
