Intercellular material is solid, pliable and incompressible. Matrix is having small cavities in which chondrocytes (cells) are present. Occurrence: During embryonic stages, most of the endoskeleton was made up of cartilage which is gradually replaced by bones. Other sites: Tip of nose, outer ear joints, between vertebra, limbs and hands.
