Lamarck believed that every organism has an internal vital force that tends to increase its size up to a certain limit. He also believed that the organs put to more use will develop more while organs not used begin to degenerate. Genetics were never a part of Darwin's theory. Darwin proposed the theory of pangenesis which states that all living cells produce minute particles called pangenes which pass into germ cells for transmission to the offspring.
