The correct answer is: 5.8 g/cm3

In a solid with Schottky defect atoms are missing from their position. Thus, the effective number of formula units per unit cell will decrease. so, density will also decrease.

For FCC lattice with 0.1% Schottky defect, the effective atoms per unit cell,

Zeffective=410.1100=40.004 =3.996

Now, the formula for density d=ZMNAa3

Z Effective atoms per unit cell

M Atomic mass in g mole1

NA 6×1023, a4×108 cmd=3.996×566×1023×(4×108)3=5.8 g cm3
