Gonorrhoea is caused by a bacterium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It spreads through sexual contact, common toilets and underclothes. Gonorrhoea affects both male and female genitals. The bacterium lives in genital tubes, produces pus-containing discharge, pain around genitalia and burning sensation during urination. It damages the eyes of babies born to infected mothers.
