The length of oesophagus is nearly 25 cm . Oesophagus is a hollow muscular tube found in vertebrates through which food is transfered from pharynx to stomach. It is about 25 centimetres long in adults. Peristaltic contractions of oesophageal muscle facilitate the passage of food through it.
