Organ of Corti - It is a structure situated on the basilar membrane consisting of :

1. Hair cells - These act as auditory receptors and are arranged in rows on the internal side of the organ of Corti. The lower or basal end of the hair cell is in close contact with the afferent nerve fibres.

2. Tectorial membrane : It is a thin elastic membrane placed over the rows of hair cells.

Two cerebral hemispheres are interconnected by thick band of transverse nerve fibres of white matter called corpus callosum. White matter is found in inner part of brain. White matter is aggregation of myelinated and unmyelinated axons of many neurons.
