Skeletal muscles are muscles related to skeletal system of the body. These are voluntary in nature. These are also known as striated muscles due to presence of striations i.e. Dark and Light bands. These muscles are made up of many muscle fibres that contain many myofibrils. These contain many units known as sarcomeres which are the main unit of muscle contraction. Sarcomere extends between two Z lines or krause's membrane. I bands or Isotrophic bands or Light bands are bisected by these Z lines and A bands or Anisotrophic or Dark bands lie in the centre. Hensons zone or H zone is seen traversing the dark bands.
