A nuclear pore is a protein channel found in the nuclear membrane. These pores are formed when there is a fusion of the two membranes in the nuclear envelope and functions to allow the transport of RNA and protein molecules from the nucleus to the cytoplasm and the DNA proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. In short, they act as passageways for the proteins and other molecules to move in and out of the nucleus.
