Preservation at $-{196}^{\mathrm{o}}\mathrm{ }\left(\mathrm{l}\mathrm{i}\mathrm{quid}\mathrm{ }{\mathrm{N}}_2\right)$ can maintain tissue culture, embryos, animal $\mathrm{c}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{s}/\mathrm{t}\mathrm{i}\mathrm{s}\mathrm{s}\mathrm{u}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{s}$, spermatozoa, etc., which is called cryopreservation. It is an ex-situ conservation method, i.e., conservation of organisms outside their natural homes. Other ex-situ conservation methods are off-site collection and gene banks.
