Perigynous flower means thalamus is either disc/cup/flasked shaped. Thalamus of rose is cup shaped, ovary lies in the centre of thalamus, all the whorls arise from periphery and remain at the same level. Flowers of guava and cucumber are epigynous (i.e. gynoecium is completely inserted within thalamus).
