The correct answer is: \( \mathrm{Mn}^{2+} \) and \( \mathrm{MnO}_{2} \)

i In alkaline medium, KMnO4  first reduces to manganate and then insoluble manganese dioxide.

Basic medium 2MnO4-+H2OMnO2+2O-H+3O

ii In acidic medium:

MnO4-+8H++5e-Mn+2+4H2O

Mn give five electrons oxidizing agent.
