It consists of three parts, manubrium (the upper most part), body (the middle portion) and xiphoid process at the tip of the bone. The true ribs ( 7 pairs) are attached to the sternum. The, scapula and clavicle together combine to form pectoral girdle, and Ilium is a part of the pelvic girdle.
