Schizogony is stage in asexual reproduction of Plasmodium (malarial parasite) in which schizont is formed. From the human blood sporozoites enter the liver cells. The sporozoite grows in size to become a rounded schizont called cryptozoite. The latter divides to form cryptomerozoites ( $=$ merozoites). The merozoites are asexual haploid forms. The host liver cells rupture to liberate the cryptomerozoites into the liver sinusoids.
