In pteridophyta diploid sporophyte is main plant body and a small independent gametophyte is produced. In Gymnosperm main plant body is diploid sporophyte and gametophyte is small and not free living independent structure. In angiosperm the main plant body is diploid sporophyte with smallest gametophyte.
