The following table gives the monthly expenditure of two familie:
\begin{array}{|c|c|c|}
\hline \multicolumn{3}{|c|} { Expenditure (in \boldsymbol{y}} \\
\hline Items & Family A & Family B \\
\hline Food & 3,500 & 2,700 \\
\hline Clothing & 500 & 800 \\
\hline Rent & 1,500 & 1,000 \\
\hline Education & 2,000 & 1,800 \\
\hline Miscellaneous & 2,500 & 1,800 \\
\hline
\end{array} In constructing a pie diagram to the above data, the radii of the circles are to be chosen by which one of the followin:
ratios?

The correct answer is:
$10: 9$
Total expenditure of $\mathrm{A}=3,500+500+1,500+2,000$
$=10,000$
Total expenditure of $\mathrm{B}=2,700+800+1,000+1,800$
$+1,800$
$=8,100$
Area of A: Area of $\mathrm{B}=10,000: 8,100$
$=100: 8]$
$\Rightarrow$ radius of A: radius of $\mathrm{B}=\sqrt{100}: \sqrt{81}$
$=10: 9$
$=10,000$
Total expenditure of $\mathrm{B}=2,700+800+1,000+1,800$
$+1,800$
$=8,100$
Area of A: Area of $\mathrm{B}=10,000: 8,100$
$=100: 8]$
$\Rightarrow$ radius of A: radius of $\mathrm{B}=\sqrt{100}: \sqrt{81}$
$=10: 9$
