Prostaglandins are a type of lipids that are produced at the site of injury or tissue damage. These help in controlling inflammation, blood flow, and even the formation of blood clots. They are synthesized from arachidonic acid which is a 20 carbon-containing fatty acid by the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase.
