The correct answer is: 12 m s-2
Given :x = 8 + 12 12t – t3

Velocity, v = d x d t = 1 2 - 3 t 2

When v = 0, 12 – 3t2 = 0  or  t = 2 s

a = d v d t = - 6 t

a|t = 2 s = – 12 m s–2

Retardation = 12 m s–2
