Plants grown in partial or complete absence of light is the process termed etiolation. This process develops long, weak stems, smaller, sparser leaves due to longer internodes. The leaves show yellowing due to chlorosis (due to insufficient production of chlorophyll). The growing tips of the plant are generally found to be attracted to light and will elongate towards it.
