The correct answer is: a-beta hydroxy aldehyde or a betahydroxy ketone
Aldehydes and ketones having at least one $\alpha$-hydrogen atom in presence of dilute alkali give $\beta$-hydroxy aldehyde or $\beta$-hydroxy ketone.

Caution
Those aldehydes which does not have $\alpha$-hydrogen atom like $\mathrm{HCHO}$, does not give aldol condensation reaction.
