The correct answer is:
$\mathrm{I}_2, \mathrm{HNO}_3$
$\mathrm{CH}_4+\mathrm{I}_2 \rightleftharpoons \mathrm{CH}_3 \mathrm{I}+\mathrm{HI}$
Since, it is reversible process.
Therefore, $\mathrm{HNO}_3$ is used to convert $\mathrm{HI}$ into $\mathrm{I}_2$.
$$
2 \mathrm{HNO}_3+2 \mathrm{HI} \longrightarrow 2 \mathrm{NO}_2+2 \mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}+\mathrm{I}_2
$$
So, $\mathrm{I}_2$ and $\mathrm{HNO}_3$ are suitable reagents.
