The tongue is attached to the mandible, the styloid processes of the temporal bones, and the hyoid bone. The hyoid is unique in that it only distantly/indirectly articulates with other bones. The tongue is positioned over the floor of the oral cavity.

The duodenum of the large intestine is a C-shaped structure and continues with jejunum a coiled structure. The colon is a 5-6–ft long, inverted, U-shaped part of the large intestine present in the lower gastrointestinal tract.
