The correct answer is: 1 m s-1
For stationary person

For running person

Speed of rain with respect to a stationary man =ν

v=v sin30o i^v cos30o j^

The velocity of rain with respect to man,

vRM=vRvM

=(v sin30o i^v cos30o j^)(0.5 i^)

Since VRM is vertically downward, its x-component will become zero.

∴ v sin30o0.5=0

v=0.5sin30o=1 m s-1
