Tropic movements are caused by cell elongation and do not affect the whole plant. Different tropic movements are phototropism, geotropism, chemotropism, aerotropism (e.g., positively aerotropic pneumatophores), thermotropism (towards warmth, e.g., peduncles of Tulip, Anemone), rheotropism, galvanotropism and traumatotropism.
