Question: Answered & Verified by Expert

Two magnetic dipoles X and Y are kept at a distance d apart, with their axes perpendicular to each other. The dipole moment of Y is twice that of X. P is a point along the horizontal line which is at the midpoint of d. What is the magnitude of the force of particle of charge q passing through P at angle θ=45°? (d is very much larger in comparison to dipole)

The correct answer is: 0

B1=2μ04π·M(d/2)3; B2=μ04π·2M(d/2)3
B1=B2

Net magnetic field will be at 45°.

The direction of Bnet and velocity of charge is same, hence charge will experience no force.
