Apparent weight  = V ρ - σ g = m ρ ρ - σ g

where m = mass of the body, ρ = density of the body and σ = density of water If two bodies are in equilibrium then their apparent weight must be equal.

m 1 ρ 1 ρ 1 - σ g = m 2 ρ 2 ρ 2 - σ g

3 6 9 9 - 1 = 4 8 ρ 2 ρ 2 - 1 g .

By solving we get ρ 2 = 3 .
