The product of metabolic reactions are called as metabolites. Metabolites which are main product of certain process are called as primary metabolites. Glucose is main product of photosynthesis thus is a primary metabolites. Secondary metabolites are waste product or excretory products which are converted to non toxic forms, these are present in plants, bacteria and fungi.
