Calcitonin is a hormone released by thyroid gland that regulates calcium and phosphate metabolism in blood. Parturition is the process of child birth where the uterine muscles contract to force the baby out of the mothers womb. Uterine contraction is stimulated by the hormone oxytocin which is released by the posterior pituitary.
Vasopressin or anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) is released by the posterior pituitary that stimulated water reabsorption in the DCT and collecting duct of the nephron, thereby, increasing the concentration of urine. This hormone prevents dehydration and reduces urine production.
Grave's disease (hyperthyroidism, overactive thyroid) is an autoimmune disorder believed to be caused due to genetic and environmental factors.
