Ecological pyramid is a graphical representation of relationships between organisms at different trophic levels. The base of the pyramid represents producers, whereas the apex represents tertiary consumers. Ecological pyramid considers one organism at one trophic level and does not consider omnivores. It assumes that nature has a simple food chain, but actually there are complicated interconnected food chains called food webs. Decomposers which help in recycling the energy are also not given any place.
