Plant compete with the environment and with others for mineral resources. Any deficiency of any nutrient or mineral in the environment affects plants first. When plants decrease, the food available to herbivores decreases, and they get affected. However, the effect of deficiency will come later in carnivores when all plants and herbivores die.
