Phenyl magnesium bromide is called Grignard reagent. One mole of this react with carbonyl compound to give alcohols. It react with aldehyde to form secondary alcohol while with ketones gives tertiary alcohols. The given compound is a tertiary alcohol so, reactant should be a ketone.
