Given that 0.45 g of the acid of molecular mass 90 was neutralized by 20 ml of 0.5 N caustic potash.

We know that,

Normality N = Weight of the base ×1000Eq. weight×volume

Gram equivalents of an acid

Gram equivalents of KOH i.e. 0.45E=20×0.51000

where, E= Equivalent mass E=0.45×100020×0.5=45

Thus, basicity =9045=2 Basicity=MolecularmassEquivalentmass
