The correct answer is: 0.6 m s-1
Given,

Weight of bullet mB=10 g

 =10×10-3 kg

Weight of block M=10 kg

The initial velocity of the bullet vi=1000 m s-1

The final velocity of the bullet vf=400 m s-1

By the law of conservation of momentum,

mBvi=mBvf+10v [where, v=velocity of block]

10×10-31000=10×10-3400+10v

10=4+10v

10v=10-4

v=610=0.6 m s-1
