The correct answer is: 16 V

As the resistance and coil or inductor are in series with power supply, therefore the voltage in the inductor will lead the voltage in resistor by 90°, the phasor diagram is, 

So, Vnet=20 V=VR2+VI2 and given that VR=12 V

Therefore, VI=202-122=16 V

Hence, voltage across the coil is, 16 V
