Solanum tuberosum is potato and Solanaceae is commonly called as the 'potato family'. They have 5 petals and 5 sepals and hence they have pentamerous symmetry. They have two carpels in their gynoecium which are fused together (syncarpous condition). They have bilocular superior ovary with axile placentation.
