Carrying capacity refers to the average population density or size of a species that can survive without depleting the life-sustaining resources. It is different for each species on account of their food, social and shelter requirements which is not uniform across. Survival of species is possible only until it reaches its carrying capacity of the environment. At this point, there will be a severe shortage of resources and thus will result in death.
