Tension at a section x distance from free end is



T=mg=μ·x·g


where, μ= mass per unit length of rope. 


Wave speed over the rope is given by 


v=Tμ=μ·x·gμ=g·x


v2=gx


Comparing above equation with 


v2-u2=2as, we get


v2=2ax=gx


Acceleration, a=g2


Now, if t= time for wave pulse to cover a distance x,


then from 


s=ut+12at2,


we have 


x=12×g2×t2


or t=2xg

or time to travel complete length of rope tL.
