A white precipitate was formed when BaCl2 when added to water extract of SO3-2 salt. which is an inorganic salt.white pracipitate of BaSO3 is formed. Further, a gas SO2 with burning sulphur like odour will be released when theBaSO3 is  dissolved in dilute HCI.
