Acid rain is the result of human activities that emit the oxides of sulphur and nitrogen in the atmosphere. $2 \mathrm{SO}_2(\mathrm{~g})+\mathrm{O}_2(\mathrm{~g})+2 \mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}(\mathrm{l}) \rightarrow 2 \mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{SO}_4(\mathrm{aq})$ $4 \mathrm{NO}_2(\mathrm{~g})+\mathrm{O}_2(\mathrm{~g})+2 \mathrm{H}_2 \mathrm{O}(\mathrm{l}) \rightarrow 4 \mathrm{HNO}_3(\mathrm{aq})$ Nitric acid and sulphuric acid are acids present in acid rain which causes harmful effects to both living and nonliving things.
