From figure R2R2 is the coordinate of the rod only in absence of the ring,

When the ring is also introduced then rcm=mchord rchord+mring rringmchord+mring

Hence coordinate of the center of mass of system rcm=mchord rchordmchord+mring

Hence the value of coordinate will decrease and will not be R2R2, hence the answer is B
