Callose is polysaccharide having repeating units of beta glucose with β 1 → 3 glycosidic bonds with some β 1 → 6 branches. Callose is produced during pollen grain formation, cell plate formation and also as a stress response. Callose present in the endothecium helps in dispersion of pollen grains.
