For the reaction,

SO2g+12O2(g)SO3(g)

Equilibrium constant, K1=[SO3]SO2O21/2 ...(i)

For the reaction,

2SO3g2SO2g+O2(g) 

Equilibrium constant, K2=SO22[O2]SO32 ...(ii)

On squaring both sides in Eq.(i), we get

K12=SO32SO22[O2] ...(iii)

Eq. (ii) × Eq (iii), we get

K12×K2=1

or K2=1K12

or K12=1K2
