In dorsiventral leaf there is distinct upper and lower surface, upper surface is known as adaxial surface and the lower surface is known as abaxial surface. Mesophyll tissue of dorsiventral leaf is differentiated into upper palisade parenchyma and lower spongy parenchyma. In vascular bundle xylem is present towards adaxial surface and phloem is present towards abaxial surface.
