The plants which require only a short period of darkness to flower are known as long-day plants whereas the plants which require a short day length and the long period of darkness without any interruption by light are known as short-day plants. Day-neutral plants are those which flower in which spectrum of the amount of light it receives. The intermediate type of plants is one which does not require long periods of darkness or light to flower.
